How to manage uncertainty

There are many times in life when we will do things, where the outcome may be uncertain. More often than not we will take a calculated gamble or feel we can prepare for the worst case scenario.

Sometimes, no preparation is possible or even help and we have to simply deal with the outcome (this is often what occurs when we receive, sudden, shocking or tragic news).

Right now the entire world is in a vulnerable and uncertain position and this filters down into all of our lives and has an impact on us.

One thing that is easy to implement and can really help is creating some Routine and Structure for yourself.

Whilst we are in lockdown and confined to our homes, create a morning, afternoon and evening schedule for yourself. For the morning it can be, waking up, brushing your teeth, doing some stretching/exercise and then having a shower and some breakfast. Lunchtime could be listening to a music track, making a phone call to friend/loved one and noting down a thought for the day. Evening might be preparing a meal, sharing it with other people in the home or if alone, connecting via phone/media to ‘virtually share’ your meal and converse with another, read an article or book or watch some TV. The schedule can change or alternate on different days.

The important thing here is that by creating some form of routine and structure you are providing yourself with a solid foundation and this can bring back some level of certainty into your life. Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
