Most people know by now that I do enjoy my walks. Usually early in the morning (to see the sun rise) or evening (to watch it set). Typically this time offers space for me to think, look around and be curious with thoughts that pop into my head.
Last week on an early dawn wander I experienced what I have called, ‘Natures art gallery’ and I will explain.
The first thing was something I felt, actually two things. The first was the temperature had dipped so was a bit more brisk than previous and also a bit damp. Not raining, just a dampness in the air. The 2nd thing I felt AND also saw were lots of leaves flying in the air, being carried (or blown!) off the trees by the wind and then continuing their journey as they became caught in the breeze dancing in the air. At times it was like a ‘leaf shower’.
Looking around I could see so many autumnal shades and colours – quite magical and beautiful.
I noticed on this morning the fog and how my vision would only be able to reach a certain point before being cut off. Some directions were foggier and deeper than others. Sometimes I’d spot a cat or bird emerge and rarely the soft beams of a car’s lights on the road.
The final thing I took in were spiders webs. Because of the drop in temperature and the mist, fog and morning dew, as I walked past hedges there were so many spiders’ webs that were glistening and apparent. Ordinarily they’d be hidden from sight but today hundreds of them were visible in all shapes and sizes.
I enjoyed my natural art gallery and was inspired to share.
What beauty have you recently experienced through nature and if you give yourself a couple of moments to reflect, what do you feel through your mind / body and soul in exchange for remembering?
