Out of the fog

I looked out of my window this morning and was greeted by a slightly foggy, damp autumnal scene. Fallen brown and yellowing leaves on the pavement, dark skies overhead, people walking up the hill wrapped up in their jackets and there standing proud in the front garden was a single red rose - the one bit of vibrant colour amongst this scene. It made me smile and reflect that in life when things appear bleak there is often a small ray of light that (eventually) shines through and it can be easily missed, though is affirming when connected with.
